About this trip
Serengeti National Park covers close to 15,000 square kilometers of open grassland, acacia woodland and river valleys in northern Tanzania, and holds one of the highest concentrations of large mammals anywhere on earth. Lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and buffalo are resident year round, and the wildebeest and zebra migration moves through different parts of the park on a predictable annual cycle: calving on the southern plains from roughly January to March, then a push north through the western corridor and the Grumeti River around May and June, before the Mara River crossings in the north from around July to September. Game drives run at dawn and dusk when the light and the animal activity are both at their best.
