About this trip
Ruaha National Park is Tanzania's largest, at over 20,000 square kilometers, and sees far fewer visitors than the Northern Circuit parks despite holding some of the country's biggest elephant and lion populations. The Great Ruaha River runs along the park's edge and draws wildlife to its banks through the dry season, while the park's mix of miombo woodland, baobab-covered hills and open plains supports both East and Southern African species side by side, greater and lesser kudu, sable and roan antelope among the animals rarely seen further north. Its remoteness is part of the appeal: long, uncrowded game drives with very few other vehicles in sight.
